Please find below accepted sanctions from MRP charges handed down from the weekend.
Aaron Francis - Essendon
AFL Victoria’s Match Review Panel charged player Francis for striking Geelong player Alex Hickey during the second quarter of the VFL Round 5 match, Essendon vs Geelong on Saturday 13th May, 2017 at Windy Hill.
Based on the available video and medical report, the incident was assessed as careless conduct with low impact and high contact. The incident was classified as a one match base sanction. The player has no applicable record which impacted the penalty, therefore Essendon have the option to accept an early guilty plea of a $500 fine (AFL Listed) and a reprimand.
Outcome – accepted $500 fine and a reprimand.
Marc Pittonet – Box Hill Hawks
AFL Victoria’s Match Review Panel charged player Pittonet for wrestling Richmond player Jacob Ballard during the last quarter of the VFL Round 5 match, Box Hill Hawks vs Richmond on Sunday 14th May, 2017 at Box Hill City Oval.
As a first low level offence, player Pittonet has been offered a $300 fine and a reprimand, with an early guilty plea of a reprimand.
Outcome – accepted reprimand as a first low level offence.
Jacob Ballard – Richmond
AFL Victoria’s Match Review Panel charged player Ballard for wrestling Box Hill Hawks player Marc Pittonet during the last quarter of the VFL Round 5 match, Box Hill Hawks vs Richmond on Sunday 14th May, 2017 at Box Hill City Oval.
As a first low level offence, player Ballard has been offered a $300 fine and a reprimand, with an early guilty plea of a reprimand.
Outcome – accepted reprimand as a first low level offence.
Toby Bedford – Dandenong Stingrays
AFL Victoria’s Match Review Panel charged player Bedford for engaging in rough conduct against Oakleigh Chargers player Samuel Harte during the third quarter of the TAC Cup Round 7 match, Dandenong Stingrays vs Oakleigh Chargers on Sunday 14th May, 2017 at Shepley Oval.
Based on the available video and medical report, the incident was assessed as careless conduct with medium impact and high contact. The incident was classified as a two match base sanction. The player has no applicable record which impacted the penalty, therefore Dandenong have the option to accept an early guilty plea of a one match sanction.
Outcome – accepted one match sanction to be served in school football this weekend (Melbourne Grammar).
