Patrick McCartin - Sandringham
AFL Victoria’s Match Review Panel charged player McCartin for engaging in rough conduct against North Ballarat player Tony Lockyer during the second quarter of the VFL Round 4 match, Sandringham vs North Ballarat on Saturday 6th May, 2017 at Trevor Barker Oval.
Based on the available video and medical report, the incident was assessed as careless conduct with medium impactand body contact. The incident was classified as a one match base sanction. The player has no applicable record which impacted the penalty, therefore Sandringham have the option to accept an early guilty plea of a $500 fine (AFL Listed) and a reprimand.
Jake Melksham – Casey Demons
AFL Victoria’s Match Review Panel charged player Melksham for striking Werribee player Matt Hanson during the second quarter of the VFL Round 4 match, Werribee vs Casey Demons on Sunday 7th May, 2017 at Hoppers Crossing.
Based on the available video and medical report, the incident was assessed as intentional conduct, low impact and body contact, which resulted in a one match base sanction. The player has no applicable record which impacted the penalty, therefore Casey Demons have the option to accept an early guilty plea of a $600 fine (AFL Listed) and a reprimand.
AFL Victoria’s Match Review Panel charged player Melksham in a separate incident for striking Werribee player Matt Hanson during the third quarter of the same match. Based on the available video and medical report, the incident was assessed as careless conduct, low impact and high contact, which resulted in a one match sanction. As a result, Casey Demons have the option to accept an early guilty plea of a $500 (AFL Listed) fine and a reprimand.
If Casey Demons are to accept the early guilty plea for both charges, player Melksham will receive a one match sanction as a result of receiving two reprimands in the same match.
Lindsay Thomas – Werribee Tigers
AFL Victoria’s Match Review Panel charged player Thomas for engaging in rough conduct against Casey Demons player Corey Maynard during the second quarter of the VFL Round 4 match, Werribee Tigers vs Casey Demons on Sunday 7th May, 2017 at Hoppers Crossing.
Based on the available video and medical report, the incident was assessed as careless conduct with severe impactand high contact. The incident has been referred directly to AFL Victoria’s Tribunal on Tuesday evening, 9th May at AFL Victoria Head Office, commencing at 6.00PM.
Dylan Gordon – Casey Demons
AFL Victoria’s Match Review Panel charged player Gordon for rough conduct (dangerous tackle) against Werribee player Harry Kershaw during the first quarter of the AFL Victoria Development League Round 4 match, Werribee vs Casey Demons on Sunday 7th May, 2017 at Hoppers Crossing.
Based on the available video and medical report, the incident was assessed as careless conduct, low impact and body contact, which resulted in a one match sanction. The player has no applicable record which impacted the penalty, therefore Casey Demons have the option to accept an early guilty plea of a $50 (Dev League Player) fine and a reprimand.
Jake Hazik – Western Jets
AFL Victoria’s Match Review Panel charged player Hazik for rough conduct (dangerous tackle) against Geelong Falcons player Samuel Walsh during the fourth quarter of the TAC Cup Round 6 match, Western Jets vs Geelong Falcons on Saturday 6th May, 2017 at Burbank Oval.
Based on the available video and medical report, the incident was assessed as careless conduct, medium impact and high contact, which resulted in a two match base sanction, with the option of accepting an early guilty plea of a one match sanction. The player has no applicable record which impacted the penalty.
AFL Victoria will advise on the outcomes of the above charges once known.
