Nainima thanks Puamau
Nainima thanks Puamau
US-based Fiji basketball player, Valerie Nainima believes the sport has
grown in the last few months under the development of Laisiasa Puamau. Nainima
who is in the country for a short break from the competitive US college
basketball competition helped the Raiwaqa women’s side win the Fiji
Games in Lautoka last week.
“Lai has been dedicating himself to
developing basketball from the grass root level and keeping the sport
alive in making sure we have competitions to help the players develop
their skills,” she said. “One looking in from the outside may not
see the changes but playing in Lautoka against all this teams I could
feel the changes. This was a big difference to when I was here the last
time.” “The skill level has gone up and so is the knowledge of
the game. Lai is doing great work and I really take my hat off to him
for what he’s doing and giving back to Fiji basketball,” Nainima added. Nainima said the Fiji teams looked to be a force to reckon with in Oceania competitions. “If development keeps on like this at this rate then I say we can expect a lot from the Fiji teams.”
