Chinese U18 national basketball team tours Fiji

THE China under-18 women's basketball team will be in the country next week to meet the Fiji women's select team in Suva.

The team will tour Fiji to play two matches against the Fiji women's side.

Fiji Basketball Federation chief operating officer Laisiasa Puamau said it would be a good opportunity for Fiji.

"They are a best team in the East-Asia region and they are also a world-class team," he said.

"It is an excellent time to play against them since they are currently touring Australia and New Zealand. It is good for us to build up to the national women's program.

"We will be playing two matches against them and seek public support as we will have free admission on the day."

United States-based Valerie Nainima will captain the Fiji team.

"We have also included three under-18 players in the team to boost our chances," Puamau said.

"It would help us as we will be exposing players against one of the best side."

The first match will be played at 5pm on Wednesday, the second on Thursday at 10am —— both at the Vodafone Arena.
