Nainima Impresses China Coach Mei
The National China Under-18 women’s basketball team dominated the second test against the BLK Fijian Women’s Selection team at the Vodafone Arena in Suva yesterday.
The Chinese thumped the Fijians 106 – 60 but coach Li Dong Mei was impressed with Fijian captain Valerie Nainima’s performance.
“The Fijians played really hard and Nainima was very impressive,” Mei said.
“This is the first time we are coming here and I think Fiji should start teaching basketball in schools.”
Basketball Fiji’s Chief of Operations Laisiasa Puamau said they have gained a lot of lessons from the two games.
Puamau acknowledged the services of overseas-based players like Nainima and Miliakere Koyamainavure.
“We are grateful as they were able to share and pass on their knowledge to the players.”
