NOCSI EQUIPS FEDERATIONS

NOCSI in a statement this week stated that as part of its alertness and preparation supported the NFs to kick off with their Talent Identification programs
“NOCSI dish out sporting equipment’s to its affiliated member National Federations. This support has come about after NOCSI has identified that some of the National Federations were not able to move because of the unprecedented Covid19 has affected their programs and they cannot do much,” the statement reads.
NOCSI President Martin Rara during the announcement of the sporting equipment support reminded all the federations to make good use of what they now have.
“The sporting equipment is to enhance your federations’ development aspirations. Sports Equipment should be seen as an added value to your programs in identifying the best team to represent the Solomon Islands here in 2023 Pacific Games,” Rara stated.
The President also highlighted that the selection for Team Solomon will be tough to meet the national request made by Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare to win 40 Gold Medals.
“Selection for the Home Games will be very tough as the request of the Prime Minister to win 40 Gold Medal will not be seen as something that will be treated very lightly but rather it is something that all National Federations should take to heart and work on it,” says Rara.
He further stressed to federations that there will be no free ride to the Games in 2023.
Upon receiving the welcoming news Sailing Federation rep Geoffrey Baragamu alluded that the pieces of equipment have come in at the right time where the National Federation needs it to expand its development activities and its Talent Identification.
“The Sailing National Federation has received funds equivalent to 11 boats to be used for training and the development of the National Federation development programs,” NOCSI revealed.
The National Federations that receive equipment were Archery, Athletics, Badminton, Baseball & Softball, Basketball, Body Building, Boxing, Canoeing & Va’a, Chess, Golf, Karate, Netball, Rugby 7s, Sailing, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis, Volleyball, and Weightlifting.
The supports receive were funds that were targeted to the purchase of the sports equipment.
