Pacific Games 3x3 Schedule Confirmed

GOLD COAST (Australia) – The schedule for the Pacific Games 3x3 has been revealed as the countdown for 17th Pacific Games continues.

The Pacific Game 3x3 will be lighting up the Solomon Islands this November when the second edition of the games format gets underway.

With 23 teams locked in across the men’s and women’s competition, FIBA Executive Director – Oceania, Amanda Jenkins said that the competition format is thriving across the region.

“We are thrilled to have so many countries entered and raring to go at the Pacific Games 3x3 Series,” Jenkins said.  “This is the second time we have included the format at the Pacific Games and it’s a great format that provides opportunity for smaller countries to play competitive basketball at a regional level.”

“Both the men’s and women’s teams will be strong, we are looking forward to seeing tough matches throughout the series where the champions of the region will be crowned.”

In the men’s competition Samoa (101 World Ranking) are currently the highest ranked 3x3 team in the region, closely followed by Tonga (114 World Ranking) and New Caledonia (118 World Ranking).  Following the FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup earlier in the year, Tahiti will be looking to use that experience to improve their ranking and challenge for a podium finish.

The men from Guam won gold at the Pacific Games in 2019 and they will no doubt be chasing back-to-back glory against the best in the Pacific.

Tahiti and New Caledonia will be teams to watch in the women’s competition as they look to improve on their 3x3 ranking following the FIBA 3x3 Women’s Asia Cup.

New Caledonia (81 World Ranking), Samoa (96 World Ranking) and Cook Islands (119 World Ranking) are the highest ranked women’s teams in the region and will all be eager to win Pacific Games gold.  Fiji women are the reigning gold medallists who will once again be out to prove their dominance in the Pacific.

The Pacific Games 3x3 Series will be hosted by Solomon Islands from November 29 – December 2, 2023.
