Honiara Basketball League Registration Open Until Wednesday

The Honiara Basketball League held their registration day for the 2018 season yesterday at the Multipurpose Hall and initial team numbers have been lower than expected. Paid registrations have so far been received from only 4 Open Men’s teams, 1 Open Women’s team, and 1 High School Boys team.

Registrations will therefore remain open until this Wednesday 5 September. The Organising Committee advises that teams must register and pay their $500 first deposit by Wednesday as no further late registrations will be accepted after this time. Teams can register by contacting any of the Organising Committee representatives from HBL, D Fenders Basketball Club or Solomon Australian Basketball Association.

The Organising Committee are confident that all four divisions will go ahead with a number of other expressions of interest from various teams who are expected to register across the Open Men, Open Women, High School Boys and High School Girls competitions.

By laws for the 2018 Honiara Basketball League will be provided to participating teams upon registration. The total fees payable for the season are expected to be between $1,200 and $1,500 per team, depending upon the final number of team nominations received. Competition schedules will be finalised by Friday 7 September.

League sponsorship for Open Men and Open Women is currently being sought and will be advised to participating teams in due course. Already the High School Boys and High School Girls have secured sponsorship and prizemoney from Ela Motors with $3,000 for first place, $2,000 for second place and $1,000 for third place on offer.

Games will commence on Sunday 9 September at the Multipurpose Hall, running every week until early December.
