Inter Club Basketball for World No Tobacco Day

The Health Education Department under the Ministry of Health conduct the awareness for the World No Tobacco Day with main theme "To Support Tobacco Act", the same time negotiate with NBDO for partnership in running basketball competition in clubs in order to promote and care about the impartant day. Clubs involved were Buota basketball clubs, Naw Basketball club, Bik Basketball club and NCD Basketball club. All teams were entered into FIBA Organizer and fixtures generated the same time and uploaded to the website.

On the first day of lecturer, one of the ministry co-ordinator gives speech for thanking all the participants involved in the program. However, he strongly acknowledge that under the agreement sign by police department and health will be act this year to stop using drugs inside and around sport facilities compound.  At this time luckily basketball involved with the program and hope it will standardise the policy or law to young people to stop using and prioritize basketball as an activity.  Also the program will be conducted annually for youth and greatful to increase number of clubs involve the event.

NBDO and the MHMS will organised another project for the primary schools in this year.  MHMS agree that drug free is the best topic to deliver to young people and at the same time they add the new topic which is food diet as it is important to teach the right way to eat healthy food which will useful and energetic especially for sport.

The grand finals will kicks off on Friday 31st May in Nawerewere court.
