Maddie Garrick Joins The November Blood Donation Challenge
Dear Local Sporting Club Members,
Did you know that 1 in 3 people in our community will need blood in their lifetime? Or that giving blood only takes an hour, but can save three lives?
Australia needs 25,000 blood donations every week. Around one-third of those go towards helping people with cancer, with the rest needed to treat immune conditions, pregnancy and childbirth complications, surgery, haemophilia, heart disease and more.
That’s why we’re asking you to join the Valley Sport Sporting Club Blood Challenge being held from the 1st – 30th of November 2016. It’s asking you to team up as a club and donate some blood through the Australian Red Cross’ Red25 program.
You’ll be competing with other sporting clubs across the region, with a trophy and bragging rights awarded to the club with the most donations. All the details you need can be found here.
How to get involved
Register your team before 1st November 2016
- Get 1 person from your club to register your team here then email Valley Sport to confirm your team is partaking in this challenge.
- Find out if you are eligible to Donate Blood. Eligibility can be affected by travel, medication, illness tattoos. To check if your able to save three lives Click here.
- Book a blood donation appointment during the challenge online or by calling 13 14 95.
Even if you can’t donate, you can still help by rallying others to the cause and spreading the word about donation.
