Creating Pathways for our future
This has been achieved by using the ‘Green shirt program’ (Beginner Referee Development Program), Victorian Junior Basketball League (VJBL), Country Basketball League (CBL) and Victorian Basketball League (Big V Basketball).
For the first time in many years a female has achieved a state 1A Grade at GSBA.
Emma Thorn recently received this honour. Emma has followed in her family’s footsteps with her passion for refereeing. She has worked hard for the past four years sitting exams, undergoing fitness tests and evaluations to be able to achieve such a fantastic result.
Over the last twelve months Emma has achieved the following;
- Jimmy Ralph Perpetual Trophy (Senior Referee of the Year- GSBA)
- Attended multiple Country State Championships achieving a Gold Medal match
- Mentor to many referees in the Green Shirt Program
- Panel referee for VJBL
- Panel referee for CBL
- Attended multiple tournaments throughout country Victoria
On behalf of GSBA we congratulate Emma on her fine effort and look forward to seeing her develop further as a mentor and a referee. Well Done Emma!
As well as Emma’s achievement’s, James Tomarchio adjudicated his first CBL game last weekend. This is also a wonderful achievement in the umpiring area. The referee is a major part of the game and it is so important to the organisation that young referee’s such as Emma and James are provided appropriate pathways to further their game experience.
