Noosa Reef Hotel Cyclones SBL Mens defeated the Suncoast Clippers on Sunday 75 -52. The team also played the Brisbane Capitals on Saturday at NAB Stadium and were defeated 76- 68 in a close encounter. The Team will take on the Warwick Wildcats this Saturday night 7pm at the Leisure Centre.

The Southern Basketball League started on the weekend with the Noosa Reef Hotel Cyclones facing the Southern Districts Spartans in Brisbane on Saturday afternoon, and the Gold Coast Seahawks on Sunday at the Noosa Leisure Centre.

During the Easter School Holidays the Noosa Cyclones junior representative teams attended their State Championships tournaments throughout QLD. All teams had successful tournaments in their own right with U16 boys wining the Gold medal in Div 3, U14 girls improving immensely in their very first tournament, and u14 boys reaching new heights finishing 7th overall in the state.

The U16 Boys Noosa Cyclones have won the BQJBC Challenge Cup Grand Final defeating Seahawkes GC 83 to 61. The Cyclones led the game from start to finish against the Seahwakes, who starting the season in Southern Cup division, however were no match for the Noosa team on the day.

Noosa District Basketball Association will kick off their 20 year anniversary celebrations this year in the company of the most famous basketball identity in Australia. Noosa Basketball will hold a sign on for the 2013 Junior Championship Season on Friday 1st Feb 4.30pm to 6.30pm and Saturday 2nd Feb 9am to 11am. At the Noosa Liesure Centre. U14 Boys Noosa Cyclones can be regarded as the most sucessful rep team in the clubs short junior rep season history. After a successful start to the 2012/13 BQJBC season the team has been promoted to the Premier (div 1) division and will now compete as one of the top 8 sides in SEQ. The competetion has taken a new finals format this season with all teams competeting for final positions of the season from first to seventh in both mens and womens comps. Looking for the u16b Draw? You need to check if your team remains in the U16 Boys draw, or is now in the U16b Division 2 Finals draw. The top 4 teams remain in the main draw, whilst the bottom 6 have been re-drawn into Div 2 Finals. Once you click on your division be sure to click Finals Matches next to Normal Season and above the rounds numbers.

Mini Hoops is a fun way to learn the game of basketball for children aged 5 to 9 years. The program runs every saturday morning at the leisure Centre from 950am to 10.40am and new players are always welcome. Now is a great time start!

Sunday 26th August at Noosa Leisure Centre Jess Bibby and Nat Hurst - Opals Squad members conducted a Coaches and Players Clinic. The coaches clinic was well attended with 12 noosa coaches learning new drills and skills and gaining valuable knowledge from Jess and Nat. The players clininc was also well recieved with 25 junior players in attendance. Thanks Jess and Nat.

Over the school holidays we took a boys and girls U12 team down to the Sleeman Complex to compete in the Annugral Queensland U12 Club Champs. It was a great 3 days of basketball with teams coming from all over Queensland.

Grand Final games concluded the first season on 2012 and there were some nail biting and very exciting games. From school cheer squads to mini hoopers and two point games, it was very entertaining to say the least and the crowd and atmosphere was electric. Click "MORE" for photos.

Head Coach of the Noosa Reef Hotel Cyclones Mens team Nick Cooper is satisfied with his teams start to the 2012 QBL D-league Season after beating Ipswich over the weekend. At the leisure centre on Sunday the Cyclones Mens team defeated Ipswich 86 to 80 in their 4th game of the season, taking their season tally to 3 wins and 1 loss.

Noosa Basketball Helps kids get active …with AASC Almost 150 000 primary school-aged children around Australia get active each school term with the Active After-school Communities program. Parents and guardians can register their children in the AASC program once their primary school or childcare benefit (CCB) approved out of school hour care service (OSHCS) has met the selection criteria and been formally accepted into the AASC program.
