Message from Executive Officer

Hi All,

Firstly I would like to congratulate the players, coaches and clubs who have made it to the semi finals and thank all of the players, coaches, parents, scorers and supporters who didn't make it to finals.  It has been a long season and we look forward to the new format of seasons going forward.  The next season will commence in October and finish in April.  There are a few people who are not onboard with the change and that is fine - life is full of differing opinions - however it is not one that was taken lightly and alot of thought and research has gone into putting forward this change.  The main benefits for this change are the alignment with other sports, which has already seen an unprecedented number of new members joining 4-5 weeks prior to the season commencement.  We will be closing off nominations by 1st October to allow clubs to organise teams, so the sooner you register, the sooner game nights and times can be organised.
Members who are continuing to play will only need to pay DBA and Club fees (or use sports voucher and pay club fees).  Vouchers can be handed in to the office or ticket office now.
The $49.50 BNT fee will not be due until January for current members.  For new members, there will be an "end of year" product for BNT $19 to take them until Dec and then there annual BNT fee is due in Jan.
For players who register and pay before October, they will not have club and DBA fees due until April, lessening the financial burden after Christmas.
There are many other reasons for the changes that align with the Strategic Plan and direction that DBA is undertaking over the next few years and I sincerely hope people look forward to positive change and moving in a forward direction.
We have some exciting events coming up over the next 12 months, we are looking forward to implementing some more facility improvements and hope to improve the behaviour of spectators so we can all enjoy some great basketball games.
Lastly, I would also like to thank everyone who attended the Cyclones Musical Bingo and helped us raise over $5000.  This has been a huge help to the players and parents and a great team building for the Cyclones program.
Thank you to the helpers, parents, organisers and donators.

Cheers
Kerri

Did you know DBA, as a foundation member receives a dividend from the CAS Club?  Did you know this is dependent on our support?  In order to maximise our share it is important that we as DBA Members show our support and loyalty.  This year we received the least of the Foundation clubs, as we supported the least.  We need to improve this!  ALL DBA members receive FREE membership!  Every time you visit, buy a drink, have a meal or use the bottle shop - it is important that you swipe your card!  We have DBA Temporary Membership cards and Membership application forms at the office and courtside!  Please support the club that supports you!

Comment Guidelines: The SportsTG Network is made up of players, families and passionate sports followers like you who have a strong opinion about sport. That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand. So play fair and have fun, and thanks for your contribution.
