Ryan (eight) and Brayden (10) Macey practise their handball skills as the seniors train at Taylor Oval.
CHILDREN in Moree will soon have another option to keep active and learn new skills when the Suns AFL club launches its Auskick program later this month.
Auskick coordinator Tina Macey said training, games and a barbecue would be held every Thursday so young rugby and soccer players could try out the game and still play with their other club at the weekend.
“No experience is needed and it’s for both boys and girls of all ages,” Macey said. “It’s family-oriented and everyone is welcome.”
Auskick will be held every Thursday from April 23, 5pm to 6.30pm at Taylor Oval.
She said it overlapped with senior training so the youngsters would be able to learn from the best AFL players – in Moree.
“If the kids want, they can get involved in home games as well as goal umpires, runners, water boys,” Macey said.
“And we’ll hold a mini game at half time.”
Players can register throughout the season.
