On Saturday the 23rd May the Pambula Panthers & Merimbula Diggers AFL clubs will be playing for the second time this year, the first game was the annual ANZAC game played at Berrambool Oval, this time the game will be played at the Pambula Beach Sports Complex in honour of the women and men who have suffered from breast cancer.
The Panthers will wear specially designed one off jumpers for the day, all of which have been sponsored by many wonderful local businesses throughout Pambula, Merimbula and Eden areas. Thanks to the generosity of the sponsors, the Panthers have already raised over $500 for the National breast Cancer Foundation and the Breast Cancer Network Australia.
The Pambula Panthers and the Merimbula Diggers AFL clubs invite all women to the Pambula Beach sports complex for an afternoon tea.
A Pambula Club spokesman said the senior playing group approached the club with the idea of giving back to the community, to be able to support both the National Breast Cancer Foundation and the Breast Cancer Network Australia seemed like a great idea. In the coming year it’s expected 15600 women and 145 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer so what better cause to give back to. Last year over 900 AFL clubs raised over $450,000 for the BCNA, this year they’re expecting to raise over $600,000.
With the Panthers & Diggers game this weekend the clubs will be able to make a considerable contribution to the benefits. There will be a small gate charge of $5- , with this you’ll receive a ticket in the raffle to win a fully signed GWS jursey, kindly donated by GWS and AFL NSW/ACT.
Further to this weekend, both clubs will put on a sportsmans evening later in the year with all profits going directly to both organizations.
The’re be a full day of footy at Pambula Beach starting with the U11s @ 9.30am followed by U13s, U16s, Development Grade then the Seniors @ 2.10.
The Panthers & Diggers look forward to seeing everyone there for a great day.
