Australia keeps up fine performance

GOOD all round play and sticking to the basics once again saw Australia roll over Fiji U23 One team 56-19.

But team coach Peter Turk while happy with his team's performance was not particularly impressed with the Australians slowing down in the last quarter.

We would like to maintain our intensity throughout, the Fiji team scored most of their points during the last quarter and from our side its not good if we do that later in the final rounds,'' said Turk.

Well the Fijians are improving as they go on and it's a good sign considering it is their first time in a competitive environment.

In the Under 23 match Fiji committed a lot of mistakes in most areas of the game, long passes not finding their mark and lack of communication.
Overall Fiji had height advantage but failed to use it.

Australia's strength was in their excellent team work and on court coordination while Fiji relied on individual brilliance which in the end failed to get more pints for them.

Fiji captain Sekonaia Kalou was the outstanding player at Goal Keeper.

In another clash the Mixed Australian team walloped Fiji 63-22 while the New Zealand Open Men's team thrashed Cook Islands 82-22 in what perhaps has been the biggest score of the tournament so far.
