ABOUT LAKE WENDOUREE
The marathon event for the Melbourne 2005 Deaflympic Games will take place in Ballarat. The course is a circuit that takes in one of Ballarat's most famous landmark, the picturesque Lake Wendouree and surrounding areas. The event takes in four laps of the 10.5 KM circuit. Two water stations will be available along the course.
Ballarat is located approximately 90 minutes from Melbourne. Ballarat has wonderful modern Sports venues and facilities and is an easy drive from the Melbourne CBD.
Ballarat's climate in mid January is average minimum 10 degrees Celsius (50F), with the average maximum 25 degrees Celsius (77F) with Relative humidity 60%.
The start/finish area will be located at on Mair Street at the Ballarat City Oval.
The starting time of the marathon will be 07.30.

Pre Games Training Dates
There are no Official Pre Games Training sessions for marathon. Competitors can train on any running tracks in Ballarat and Melbourne.
Suggested locations for training in Melbourne are the Botanical Gardens (affectionately known as the "Tan') running track located on St Kilda Road and around Albert Park Lake.
Suggested locations for training in Ballarat are around Lake Wendouree.
Please Note: Peak traffic times in Melbourne are from 07.00 - 09.00 and 16.00 - 19.00. Daylight hours in January are from 06.00 - 21.00.
Please Note: A 4.5-hour maximum time limit will apply to this event. Athletes that have not completed the course in this time will be asked to stop immediately.
