Regardless of what stream players are in they will play pretty much the same amount of games across the board. In total that will be around 25 games. The games will allow for plenty of development opportunities.  The Development stream schedule is yet to be finalized and might differ slighly in terms of dates (at this stage the Development teams will likely play in Term 1).

Difference between Representative and Development Stream

It is very important to us to provide as many playing opportunities as possible for players who are interested in more than just school basketball. However, realistically we can only cater for so many teams before we run out of resources so the development stream will rely on parents to get actively involved.

There are several differences/similarities between the two streams –

  • As we only have a limited number of coaches applying for positions the main difference is the calibre of coaching. We will rely on parents to step up and help coach and manage the development teams. We will provide monthly coaching clinics for the parents to help them improve their coaching ability.
  • Cost. The Development teams are slightly cheaper overall as we will supply the teams with uniforms.
  • Practices. Development teams just like representative teams will be responsible for finding and paying for their own practice venue. This is generally the responsibility of the manager. The Development teams will play nearly the same amount of games as the representative teams – around 25
  • We will only enter Development teams into competitions if we have a coach and manager, if parents do not step forward for these positions, we will not enter the team.
