Harbour Celebrate 2017 Success
The Harbour Basketball Prizegiving, held at North Shore Events Centre on Friday evening, was a night of celebration.
Amongst the many highlights of the evening was the recognition given to the two National Championship winning teams – the U17 Boy’s and Girl’s teams - and also the record number of Harbour players that have achieved New Zealand representative honours in 2017.
No fewer than 37 former or current Harbour players have pulled on the black singlet this year led by Tall Black Isaac Letoa and Tall Ferns Georgia Agnew, Micaela Cocks, Deena Franklin and Zara Jillings. Click here to see the full list of New Zealand representatives from Harbour Basketball.
Harbour Basketball Board Chairman Manu Fotu praised the work of the many key people that have contributed to the success of the Harbour representative programme during the past twelve months, “I want to thank all the parents, volunteers and coaches for their contributions in building the success of the Harbour programme and helping our young athletes achieve their goals.”
The major awards were headed by the well-respected coaching duo of Tony Pompallier and Norman Fong. The pair jointly won the Coach of the Year Award for successfully guiding the Under 17A Boys to the 2017 Under 17 National title.
Harbour U17B Boys Manager Sarah Wuthrich won the Manager of the Year Award.
The Junior Referee of the Year Award deservedly went to Danielle Davies and the Senior Referee of the Year Award to Dexter Fernandez.
The Arami Puriri Whanuau Trust award for Maori and Pacific Excellence went to Daniel Fotu.
