Taine Murray Commits to Virginia

Harbour Basketball player Taine Murray has committed to the University of Virginia (the Cavaliers) from 2021.

Taine has been a part of our Harbour Basketball program for many years. He has been a National Champion for Harbour, and for his high school Rosmini. Last year Taine became the second youngest player to be selscted to play for the Tall Blacks by head coach Paulie Henare.

Taine has to choose between three outstanding programs .. Maryland, Stanford and Virginia.

Coach Tony Bennett at Virginia has a strong Harbour Basketball connection. He played for Harbour's NBL team the Harbour Kings alongside Westlake BHS student Kirk Penney. Coach Bennett helped Kirk to make the decision to play for Wisconsin. He then coached Washington State (Tom Abercrombie attended this college). During his time there he coached Klay Thompson.

Coach Bennett has coached Virginia since 2009 and won the NCAA National Championship in 2019 with a team including senior and Harbour Basketball alumni Jack Salt.

We wish Taine every success as he attends university at Virginia in 2021. Congratulations to Taine and his family Sherie, Carl and Houston !
