American college: Men's mid-season report

In the first of our two mid-season reports, we take a look at the Harbour men playing collegiate basketball in the States in the 2020-21 season.

 

NCAA Division I

 

Sam Waardenburg (Senior at University of Miami)

Sam Waardenburg, having missed all of last season due to a foot injury, has bounced back strongly starting all 12 games for the Hurricanes. Second on the team in assists per game (2.0apg) he leads the Hurricanes in 3-point shooting at 42% (11/26). Scored a season best 16 points against UCF.

rebounds per game. The 17th New Zealander to score over 500 points in NCAA Division I Men’s basketball.

Dan Fotu (Junior at St Mary’s College, California)

Second on the team in scoring Dan Fotu averaging 10.1ppg. Scored a career high 22 points against Notre Dame in November.

With 676 career points sits 8th on the all-time list of NZ scorers in NCAA Division I Men’s basketball.

Kruz Perrott-Hunt (Junior at University of South Dakota)

Kruz Perrott-Hunt scored a career best 25 points against Tennessee State in November. Leads the team in scoring (13.7ppg) and assists (2.2apg). 12-points shy of 400 career points.

Sam Mennenga (Sophomore Davidson College)

Sam Mennenga has started all but one of his 33 career games to date. Scored a season high 17 points against Penn and had 10 rebounds against Delaware.

Taine Murray scored a season best 14 points against Iowa in late November.

Made 5 from 7 three-pointer against Texas A&M Commerce. Has made 15 from 29 threes at 52%. Wil scored a career best 21 points against Colorado Mesa.

Sean Murphy (Freshman at University of Nebraska Kearney)

Sean scored a season high 10 points against Chadron State and has claimed 8 rebounds in a game on  three occasions.

Reihana Maxwell-Topia (Sophomore at St Francis University, Illinois)

Reihana scored a season high 14 points against MidAmerican Nazarene, now has 100 career points.

Kiani Saxon (Freshman at Louisiana State University, Eunice)

The 2021 Auckland Huskies forward scored a season high 7 points at Lee College in an injury interrupted early season.

The former Rosmini College forward scored his first collegiate points against Northeast Community College.
