The Eastern Ranges inflicted a demoralising defeat over the Western Jets by 34 points at Visy Park on Sunday.
The teams were evenly matched for much of the first half and the game was up for grabs.
But an inspired eight goal third term from Eastern broke the game open as they finished the game stronger and won 15.23 (113) to 12.7 (79).
Jonathon Patton (18 touches and eight marks) and Aaron Mullett (19 possessions) were productive for the victors, as they both finished with two goals, and Aaron Young finished with three.
For Western Elliot Kavanagh worked hard to contests and was rewarded with 26 possessions, Jordan Mead was fierce with his attack on the ball and the man, while Adam Kennedy booted three last quarter goals.
Throughout the game both teams were content to use lateral options and carry the ball wide, rather than use the centre corridor to advantage.
Eastern’s persistent attack on goal created more scoring opportunities which resulted in a comfortable win.
