What we eat is vital to the performance of footballers, both in limiting fatigue and maximising recovery. There are three key focuses for AFL nutrition.
1. Pre Game – It is important to eat carbohydrate rich foods prior to a game to ensure your energy stores are full as this will enable you to run for longer before fatigue occurs.
