The Northern Football League (NFL) will take over the administration of the Northern Youth Girls in 2011.
The Northern Youth Girls competition was established by AFL Victoria in 2008 and has since become one of the State's fastest growing competitions, with twelve teams expected to be a part of season 2011.
AFL Victoria's philosophy with Youth Girls competitions is that they should be embedded into existing community football leagues, so that girls and their families can enjoy the same community football benefits as boys in their local area. As part of the integration, the NFL will also include the Youth Girls in their Junior Development Program which will see Youth Girls representing the NFL in next year's AFL Victoria Metropolitan Junior Championships.
NFL Football Operations Manager, Jarrad Carey, is excited about their newest recruits.
"It is a great initiative from AFL Victoria and we are excited to have a Youth Girls competition alongs our seniors, juniors and netball competitions".
New teams from Mill Park, Epping, Lorimer and Kilmore have expressed an interest in being a part of the NFL's Youth Girls competition in 2011.
