Silver lining for Swans

It was a disappointing year for the Swans in the wash in terms of results but strong individual efforts were recognised at their recent Presentation Night.

Rob Eddy claimed the Senior Best and Fairest. It was a just desserts for the reliable centre half-back, who often got the job on the key opposition forwards. He won plenty of the ball and was a feature of the North Coast's Interleague win over the South Coast this year.

Eddy won ahead of 17 year-old rising star, Sam Turner, who also finished runner-up in the Under 18 count to Darby Pearce. Pearce was the captain for the Under 18 side who were defeated in the Grand Final by the Nambucca Valley Lions.

In a slight surprise, Sam Phillips won the Reserves award in front of Matt Andrews. Phillips polled strongly with his athleticism shining through in the grade often dominated by ex-first graders of years gone by.

Club stalwart, John Williams was recognised on the night with Life Membership.

With Steve Shelley intending to stand down as President, the time is nigh for new blood to be injected into the club committee to help the Swans regain their standing as one of the top clubs in the North Coast competition.
