Monday night's League Meeting came to the conclusion that the Interleague Match vs Black Diamond on 9th May was best to be cancelled with the possibility of postponement due a range of factors.
Central to the motive behind this move was the lack of preparation the Under 18s would have. The League has a duty of care and without sufficient preparation there would be a higher risk of injury and a chance the side would not be able to put up enough of a challenge against their high-quality opposition.
There was also the potential for up to six Under 18 players playing up in the Senior grade, obviously placing a strain on the Senior clubs for that weekend.
Subsequently the 9th May (Nth Coffs v Swans) match will be moved to Coffs Coast Leisure Park, as opposed to the BCU Stadium.
In better news, the League have named their Senior coaching panel for the June Long Weekend Representative match against the South Coast AFL. The experienced panel of Paul Sheldon, Peter Chadwick and Tristan Snow will be in charge, taking over from Rod Macpherson. Sheldon has been Rod's assistant for many years, with Snow and Chadwick recently retired from Senior football but have strong backgrounds in higher level competitions and bring a culture of success to the squad.
Training will commence shortly, more details will be passed on to the players named in the squad.
