North Coffs stood tall against Grafton in a topsy-turvy affair at Ellem Oval.

Grafton jumped out of the blocks in a passionate first quarter display. They dominated the clearances and took advantages of the opportunity to kick goals with Shawn Purton a focal point up forward.

There was a complete turnaround leading into half-time with the Kangaroos kicking eight goals. The leadership came to the fore with Darren Funston winning the contested ball and sending the ball inside the forward half with seamless ease. Josh Drum also provided a lot of drive through the centre.

Again, it was a different story after the break, with Grafton stepping up to close the gap to four points. Zac Edwards was strong in the ruck and up forward with three goals. Justin Darby and Paul Rathby began to rebound off half-back and the Tigers looked a confident side leading into the home straight.

In an enthralling final term, the Kangaroos got the jump. Trent Cook was pivotal, as was Matthew Crispe up forward. A hanger from Dale Beaver was Grafton’s main highlight in the final term but inevitably the home side was unable to dent the Kangaroos in another close contest between the two sides.

It was all one-way traffic at the Coffs Coast Leisure Park as the Saints continued their dream run with a 169-point win over the struggling Port Magpies.

The first quarter was close as the likes of Justin Mohr and Tim Donohue were able to compete and hold sway against their well-credentialed opposition.

Port were held scoreless in the second term but held hope as an inaccurate Saints were unable to stamp out any hopes of a Port revival.

Jack Gillingham and Mark Couzens led a ten-goal third quarter with Ben Hooke strong in the forward-half.

The Magpies didn’t have the depth to compete in the second half and this was again proven in the final term as the Saints reached the double century. Dave Meyers returned from suspension with seven goals and will be a handy addition to an already imposing Saints line-up.
