QBE Sydney Swans Academy player, Brendan Norton will don the Sydney Swans Guernsey for the second week in a row this weekend.
Seventeen year old Norton who plays for North Coffs in the AFL North Coast competition was selected for the Swans Reserves in their North East AFL (NEAFL) game against Ainslie at Newcastle last weekend. He impressed Swans coaching staff. Reserves coach and ex-Geelong & Sydney Swans player Henry Playfair was impressed with Norton’s game. "Brendan Norton was very good, he took some strong marks in the forward line and kicked two goals and it was great to have the local boys in the team today,’’ Playfair said.
Norton will now back up for the Swans Reserves against the Brisbane Lions in Brisbane this Saturday. The intensity of this game is likely to be yet another step up with seasoned AFL players such as Amon Buchanan, Matt Maguire and Andrew Raines likely to line up for the Brisbane Lions.
Everyone involved in AFLNC wishes Brendan well.
