IT WAS possibly the most hyped debut in reserve grade in AFL North Coast history but for those who went to Wanye Richards Park, Port Macquarie-Hastings Mayor Peter Besseling didn't disappoint them.
Besseling kicked four goals for the Magpies as the reserves recorded a comfortable 46 point win over Sawtell/Toormina.
Besseling had a cracking game for the Pies and was involved in plenty of action.
The highlight of his match, according to senior coach Scott Abercrombie, was Besseling’s last goal.
He took a mark on a tight angle before Maori-stepping through his opponent and going straight to goal.
Abercrombie said it was “humourous to watch”.
“He sized up his opponent and decided to run straight over the top of him,” he said.
