Basketballers get their bounce back...

More than 100 boys and girls aged from 10 to 17 turned up at Sportz Central last week for the first edition of the Sun's Spring Development Program.  It seems they just can't get enough of training and coaching and the association is very encouraged by the strong interest by likely 2015 Suns Junior Reps.

Women's comp resumed on Tuesday night with a refreshed competition format which will see each of th teams competing in the grade for which they nominated.  In C grade we have recruited an additional team which will allow them to play a full round robin against teams of similar ability, while the B grade comp. has a very healthy 6 teams with each vying to make the top 4 who will proceed at the end of the comp. through to semis and finals.

A new and interesting A grade competition format has been identified to give these teams the intensity they need and have asked for.
Each week all sides will play two games of fully timed 8 minute halves including the use of the shot clock.
This format will allow the premier divsion to get the workout they are seeking and also give Suns Reps further practice playing with the restriction of the shot clock.
We'll be watchiing the results closely to see if it's an idea we will continue in 2015.

In the Men's division, 30 teams across 5 divisions took to the courts again last Wednesday.
Cross Fit Park Beach, presently sit on top of the A grade men with 6 wins from 8 games but 2K14 and Emerald Pizza & Pasta are sniffing at their heals with 5 wins each from their 8 games so far this season.

In High School comp. Friday night saw 31 boy's and girl's teams get back on the courts for countdown to semis and finals at the end of November.

Saturday morning saw 40 Primary school teams take to the court in addition to the weekly learn-to-play class.

The asssociation will shortly commence a review of its 2014 competitions and planning for the 2015 season.  Any comments or suggestions from players, coaches and supporters are welcome.

There is certainly a positive atmosphere around CHBA these days and excitement about what the future holds.
