CHANGED: Coaches can gain their licence at this BNSW Accreditation Course
It is a (BNSW) requirement of coaching in the Country Premier League (CPL) in 2015 and CHBA strongly encourages all of its representative coaches to hold a current National Coach Accreditation Scheme (NCAS) licence.
Coaches of High School and Primary School teams competing in CHBA competitions will also see value in attending the Coach Accreditation Course being conducted at Sportz Central by Basketball NSW's Mark Watkins and Sam Gruggen on Sunday March 1st.
Basketball Australia have recently made changes to the coaching pathways and what was formerly referred to a the Level I Coaches Course has been replaced by the NCAS Club Coach Course.
The delivery of the Club Coach Course in Coffs Harbour will have a very practical focus as it is being combined with the conduct of BNSW's Allstar and TAP camps (refer separate stories on our news page) which will be held in Coffs Harbour the same day.
Mark Watkins who heads BNSW's player Talent Identification and Development Program will involve the student coaches in the delivery of the day-long progam and then spend some extra time going over the content not covered out on the floor.
Watkins is well credentialled to deliver the Coach Accreditation Course having spent time as the head coach of the West Sydney Razorbacks and the Gold Coast Blaze in the NBL.
More recently, Watkins was the silver medal winning coach of the Australian U-17 boys who in a seven point grand final loss to the USA finished alongside them on the medal podium at this year's FIBA World Championships.
