Want to make your players better shooters?

Brad Davidson and "shooting" fit together like 'hand and glove' or in this case, hand and basketball.

In a 393 game, 13 year professional playing career in the Australian NBL, Davidson launched 600 three pointers with a success rate over 40% - a statisitic many players fail to achieve in a single game.

Davidson was also a 84% career free throw shooter and topped this with 97% success rate in season 2000.

Davidson made 12 appearances with the Australian Boomers and among them a gold medal victory in the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games.

Late last year Davidson was appointed as Basketball Australia's National Shooting Coach and Manager of the NITP.

As National Shooting Coach he works closely with Andre Lemanis (Boomers) and Brendan Joyce (Opals) on the shooting of the national players.
He also works with the players in the Centre Of Excellence (formerly AIS) and through the State Managers, players in the NITP State Programs.

A recent quote from Davidson is very revealing "Stats from the London Olympics show that 85% of Australia's and Spain's shots were 'adaptive' - meaning changed by defensive pressure, and only 15% of shots were made in the player's comfort zone. However our practice time is the reverse of this and we need to spend more time teaching our players to shoot under pressure."

This Thursday the National Shooting Coach will be in Coffs Harbour and putting our Spring Development Players through their paces in a range of shooting drills.

The players are not the only ones to potentially benefit from Davidson's experience as all CHBA Coaches (Rep and domestic) are encouraged firstly to come along and watch the practice session or better still become involved.
Afterwards, Davidson will conduct a Coaches only meeting where he will explain the national shooting program, run some videos and teach our CHBA coaches how to improve the shooting of their players.

You may not get another opportunity to see the man who works with the the Boomers and Opals on their shooting, back in Coffs Harbour, so I hope you don't miss the chance to gain from his experience and knowledge.
