Name: Glen Shilling
Position: Executive Director
Time in current RDFNL Position: Second Year on the RDFNL Board
BIO: Glen finished his full time working life as a Transport and Logistics Manager at the end of 2014. Now working part-time as Assistant Practice Manager at a Medical Practice in Sunbury. The nature of the work is completely different, but it's a wonderful new challengefor him .
BACKGROUND: Glen used to run marathons, (which is why he has had two replaced hips). Somebody suggested he take up football umpiring as a way to supplement his fitness. He played footy up to under 16's so he had a rough idea of the sport.
He stayed in umpiring for 28 years, and retired from the sport at the end of 2015 as General Manager of the Riddell Umpires, and a Life Member of both the Umpires and the RDFNL.
At the end of 2014 when he retired from full time work, he realised he had a bit of spare time, and thought he could make a contribution to the RDFNL in some way. He was duly appointed to the Board, and his aim is to assist in the development of community football. Glen feels it is a pleasure to be working with people making a selfless contribution to the sport.
