The Red Onion Creative Ballarat Football & Netball League is pleased to announce that 3 new members will be joining our team in 2013 to assist in the administration and services that the Ballarat FNL provides to the BFNL Clubs, Maryborough Castlemaine Distinct FNL and the Riddell District FNL.
The Ballarat FNL is delighted to announce the appointment of Kara Murray to the newly created full time Netball Manager’s role to manage netball across the 3 leagues that the BFNL Administers.
Kara who has a Bachelor of Applied Science (Sports Management) and extensive professional experience with Hockey Australia, AFL, AFL Publishing (now AFL Media), along with running her own Administration Services Company. Importantly, Kara also has vast experience in Netball as a player, Coach and administrator.
Kara is married with 3 young children and lives in Gisborne and she will work jointly between the Ballarat FNL office at Saxon House and RDFL Headquarters in Sunbury.
Kara’s role will see her work closely and under the guidance of the Netball President & Executive of each league to manage the operations of all Junior (Under Age) and Senior (incorporating A, B and C Grade) Netball competitions for all leagues according to league By Laws and Netball Victoria regulations.
The Ballarat FNL is also delighted to announce the appointment of Shaun Kelly to the newly created Media, Marketing & Events Manager role to manage this critical component of our business across the 3 leagues that the BFNL Administers.
Shaun Kelly has a bachelor of business (Marketing / International Trade) and has had significant experience in Media & Marketing with the Eastern Football League, and who for the past 18 months has been working in Sales & Marketing for Queensland Cricket. A Portland boy Shaun is very much looking forward to returning to Victoria with his wife.
Shaun will be responsible for the recruitment, management and administration of all sponsorship and partnership programs for the leagues within the Ballarat “Hub”, and oversee and manage all Commercial and key stakeholder Agreements & promotions. Shaun will also oversee Communications & Media – including Social Media, maintain and further develop each league’s Website, including the creation of “chat Forums” – and moderate such forums.
Finally the Ballarat FNL is pleased to announce it has appointed Rhiannon Banner as its Riddell District FL Trainee for 2013.
Rhiannon comes to the RDFNL as part of the AFL Sports Ready program. Rhiannon is a well known and very accomplished sportsperson in the western region having been named All Australian for Women’s Football in 2011, awarded the Victorian School Sports Award in 2010 for Football and a top 10 placing in the 2012 Eva Peers Medal.
Additionally Rhiannon has played high level Netball, Cricket and Hockey and has a well rounded knowledge of Football and Netball at local level having grown up around the Melton South Junior and Senior Football Clubs. Having recently completed VCE Rhiannon can add experience working at AFL Sports Ready in 2011 to her credentials.
Rhiannon will be based at the Riddell District FL in Sunbury to work for the Riddell District FL in conjunction with the Regional General Manager, the RDFL Operations Manager and the Riddell District FL Board to assist with the administration of football / netball within the Riddell District FL

Rhiannon has a significant achievements list for a young person and her eagerness to work in the sports industry, particularly Football and Netball were the highlights of her application. We look forward to working with Kara, Shaun and Rhiannon in 2013”.
Rhiannon will be based at RDFNL HQ commencing on January 9th 2013, and Kara and Shaun will both commence on Monday 4th February and will work across the BFNL offices at Saxon House and RDFL Headquarters in Sunbury.
