On June 22nd 2013, South Barwon FC Co-Coach and player Casey Tutungi suffered a tragic accident on the football field against St Joseph's FC and became a quadriplegic. Casey had proudly represented Geelong VFL, South Barwon FC and Lorne FC.
The outpouring of love and support for Casey and his family, not only from the Geelong / Barwon region, but from the whole "football family" across the state has been overwhelming.
Football Netball Geelong will be dedicating a round of football to Casey Tutungi on July 27th, called the "Coming Together for Casey" round. This will be done in conjunction with the Geelong v St. Kilda AFL game on the same evening.
We have had several clubs / leagues offering different ways to contribute to the Future Fund, with fund raising through club functions, player / member donations, events, gate takings etc and this day would be a great way to get involved and support Casey and his family.
The attached flyer, which has more information about the Casey Tutungi Fund, could be used by Riddell District FNL clubs to display should they wish to support this cause.
The Geelong FC will also have fund raising at the AFL game on this day.
Other on-going offers of help, other than donations, can be registered at ct.familyoffice@gmail.com
The Geelong FC players have also offered their time to visit some clubs down the track as a way of thanks for helping Casey, If Clubs that raise funds would like to enter their club name as the reference when donating to the fund, this will help in arranging this.
We would like to thank you all for the love and support shown for Casey's welfare and I am sure you would all like to make an effort on this weekend.
Regards,
Lee Hartman
