The Melton Toyota Riddell District Football & Netball League, in conjunction with award sponsor Dome Security, are pleased to announce the nomination for the Steve Turner Medal - RDFNL Dome Rising Gun Award for Round 13 of the 2013 RDFNL season is John Corso from the Rupertswood FNC.
Steve Turner is a name synonymous with junior football in the north/western metropolitan areas. Steve is a Life Member of the Riddell District FNL who has held many roles within the league, including a stint as Football Operations Manager and on the RDFNL Board. In 2013, Steve has returned to the RDFNL Board as well as taking up a team manager's role with the Western Jets in the TAC Cup.
Corso has played in ten senior games in Rupertswood's first season in the RDFNL this year, and has been named as the Sharks' best player in wins against both Kilmore and Rockbank in recent weeks. Corso represented the RDFNL in the successful Under 18's team in the Worksafe AFL Victoria Country Championships against the Kyabram & District FNL earlier this season, as well as appearing on three occasions for the Western Jets in the TAC Cup in season 2013.
To be eligible for the Steve Turner Medal, players must be under 23 years of age, and have played less that 15 senior games prior to the start of the 2013 season. Players must have played junior or Under 18.5 football in the RDFNL, and have made themselves available for selection in RDFNL Interleague Programs. The 2012 Steve Turner Medal - RDFNL Dome Rising Gun Award was won by Kayne Murphy from the Sunbury Kangaroos.
