Ben Jordan, a Rupertswood favourite son and champion of the Ballarat Football Netball League and Victorian Amateur Football Association, has been appointed senior coach of the Rupertswood Football Netball Club for the 2014 Riddell District FNL season.
“Ben played his junior football at Rupertswood and it is fantastic that he will commence his club coaching career back where it all started” said Rupertswood president, Rob Morrice.
“We are delighted to finally have him back at the club and overseeing such an important phase of our development.”
Jordan is a highly decorated and respected footballer in both the VAFA and BFNL with All Australian Amateur Representation and the 2005 Henderson Medal, the Ballarat FNL senior Best & Fairest award to his name. Ben has had playing assistant coaching roles at both East Point and Sunbury Football Clubs, and since retiring as a player he has been honing his coaching skills with appointments as the assistant coach (2012) and coach (2013) of the Ballarat Football Netball League’s senior interleague side, piloting the BFNL to a win over the Bendigo FNL in the 2013 Worksafe AFL Victoria Country Championships
"I was very excited by the challenge of coaching the Rupertswood Football Club and am thankful to the committee for giving me this fantastic opportunity," commented Jordan after his appointment was made official by the Rupertswood FNC today.
“Having been a former player at Rupertswood, I am well aware of the culture, values and potential of the club and will endeavour to ensure we continue to grow and develop our talented, young playing group."
The club will be holding a “Meet the Coach” evening at the clubrooms on Tuesday 22nd October at 7.00 pm. All present and prospective players are welcome.
