The midway point of the Central Highlands Regional State League netball competition is reached tonight, with the Riddell District FNL’s Open team looking to retain second place on the RSL ladder as they take on the Maryborough & Castlemaine District FNL at Llanberis Netball Centre tonight.
The RDFNL’s Open side suffered their first defeat of the Regional State League tournament last week, going down to reigning premiers Ballarat FNL 50-29.
The final scoreline was inflated by a 16-4 final quarter in the Ballarat FNL’s favour, taking away from what was a pretty even first three quarters. Defender Danni Davidson was strong in defence for the RDFNL side, with mid-courters Steph Barnes and Cayley Armstrong also impressive.
The RDFNL will tonight take on an MCDFNL side that have put together two impressive performances to start the RSL competition, and this shapes as being one of the matches of the tournament.
The Open team takes on the Maryborough & Castlemaine District FNL at 8:30pm tonight on Court 1 at Llanberis Netball Centre
The RDFNL’s 17 & Under side are taking it all before them at the moment, with handsome wins in both of their opening two RSL fixtures. They’ll face a danger game tonight though against an MCDFNL side buoyed by their first win of the tournament last week, so coach Eliza Thornton will need to ensure her girls bring their “A” game with them tonight.
The 17 & Under side takes on Eureka at 8:30pm tonight on Court 2 at Llanberis Netball Centre.
