The Melton Toyota Riddell District Football Netball League is saddened by the recent passing of former board member Phil Littlewood.
Phil had a long history in local football in both the Riddell District FNL and Ballarat FNL, and made many friends throughout both leagues through local footy.
Phil’s roles in local football in the area were many, starting with stints as the Reserves coach at the Melton FNC from 1989-92 and 1994-96, winning three Reserves premierships during this time in the Bloods’ farewell years in the RDFNL.
Phil next appeared in the Ballarat FNL as Reserves coach at Melton South in 2000, guiding the Panthers to a Reserves premiership that year. Phil coached the Melton South Reserves through the 2003 season, then took on the role as President at the club for 2004 and 2005.
Phil joined the Ballarat FNL Board as an Executive Director in 2006, serving for two years before joining the Sunbury FNC in 2008 as Reserves coach, a position he also held in 2009 whilst also taking on the Vice President’s role.
Phil joined the Romsey FNC in the Riddell District FNL in 2011 as Senior Assistant Coach to friend Mark Pedersen, and helped pilot the Redbacks to the 2011 RDFNL Senior Premiership. Phil held this role through to the end of the 2013 season, and indications were that Phil was set to continue in this role for 2014 before his untimely passing.
The funeral service for Phil Littlewood is being held at 3pm Monday March 3rd in the Joyce Chapel, Fawkner Park, Sydney Road, Fawkner.
The Riddell District FNL wishes to pass on its deepest sympathies to the Littlewood family at this sad time.
