With just two rounds to go before finals in the Central Highlands Regional State League netball competition, the Riddell District FNL’s Open and 17 & Under sides face their toughest challenge of the competition tonight as they face the Ballarat Football Netball League at Llanberis Netball Centre in Ballarat.
Whilst their Round 2 meeting resulted in a comprehensive 50-29 win to the Ballarat FNL’s Open side, this represents the RDFNL’s only loss for the tournament so far, and the RDFNL line-up in much more settled than it was in Round 2.
Riddell shooter Christine Harris has added stability to the side in recent weeks, teaming with Macedon’s Alexis Climas and Bomber teammate Yasmin McGregor to create a formidable shooting trio.
With mid-courters Stephanie Barnes and Bronwyn Blair set to return to the side tonight, the squad should look stronger than the team that comfortably accounted for Eureka last week
The Open side take on the Ballarat FNL at 8:30pm tonight on Court 1, Llanberis Netball Centre.
The 17 & Under side encountered a shock last week, as they dropped points for the first time in the tournament after their match against Eureka ended in a 47-all draw.
Tonight, they’ll need to regroup against a Ballarat FNL side who’s only loss of the tournament so far was against the RDFNL in Round 2, however with the expert guidance of coaches Eliza Thornton and Michelle Rix the girls are favoured to take the points tonight.
The 17 & Under side take on the Ballarat FNL at 7:15pm tonight on Court 2, Llanberis Netball Centre.
