AFL Goldfields is delighted to announcement the employment of Chris Yeend as our new Media, Marketing & Events Officer, and Mitch Tinning as our new RDFNL Administration Officer.
AFL Goldfields previously had a full time Media, Marketing & Events Manager across the 2014 & 2015 seasons, but following the resignation of Shaun Kelly at the end of the 2015 season it was decided to outsource the Media & Events duties in 2016. Following a review of our Organisation structure after the 2016 season it was determined that these responsibilities should be brought back “in house” for the 2017 season.
We are delighted that we have been able to appoint a person as highly credentialed as Chris Yeend to the Media, Marketing & Events role. Chris has a Bachelor of Arts in professional writing (Victoria University), and has also done a Voice Over for TV & Radio Commercial Course along with a Sports Broadcasting Course at the Melbourne Radio School. Chris has been a Sports Journalist at the Midland Express and Macedon Ranges Guardian from 2010 to 2016, along with being a Presenter and renowned broadcaster of RDFNL games with Highlands FM from 2005 to 2016. From 2007 Chris has also served as the RDFNL’s Media Advisor and in this capacity, he produced the RDFNL’s “Footy Show” and “Netball Show” for the RDFNL TV Channel.
Mitch Tinning completed a Bachelor of Sports Management and a Bachelor of Business (Marketing) at Federation University from 2013 to 2016, and also has a Certificate III in Sport & Recreation. Mitch completed his Internship with AFL Goldfields during the 2016 season, and has also acted as a statistician with the Redan FNC (2016, 2016) and as a game day volunteer with the Essendon FC (2015 – 2016).
During the 2016 season the RDFNL employed Junior One One as an AFL Sportsready Trainee, but following the successful completion of Junior’s Certificate III in Sports and Recreation is was determined that the AFL Goldfields and the RDFNL did need to provide greater administrative support to the RDFNL Operations Manager and the RDFNL Clubs. As such it was determined that a full time Administration Officer would be appointed for the 2017 season rather than another Trainee.
The RDFNL and AFL Goldfields thank Junior One One for his service and contribution across the 2016 season, and congratulate him on successfully completing his Traineeship and we look forward to Mitch Tinning joining our team for the 2017 season.
AFL Goldfields Regional General Manager said “We are delighted to appoint 2 people as highly skilled and passionate about servicing community football and netball across the AFL Goldfields region as Chris and Mitch. Both are highly skilled and talented in their respective fields, and both are looking forward to servicing the AFL Goldfields competitions in 2017 and moving forward”.
Chris and Mitch will commence with AFL Goldfields on Monday 30th January 2017.
