The Ontime Delivery Solutions Riddell District Football Netball League is pleased to officially release its playing fixture for the 2017 RDFNL football and netball season.
As voted by clubs, we have continued with the 2016 schedule which comprises a 16-round season, spread across 19 weeks and commencing the week immediately prior to Easter on the weekend spanning April 7th to 9th.
We have endeavored to meet as many of the specific club requests as possible, without significantly impacting the overall fixture.
Some of the highlights.
- 2016 Grand Final rematch to kick off the season in Round 1, with Diggers Rest playing host to Riddell at Bloomdale Oval.
- No games scheduled across the Easter weekend, which is later than usual this year in mid-April.
- Night football scheduled during first two rounds, at 3 separate venues.
- ANZAC Day football to continue at Tony Clarke Reserve, with Macedon again hosting Rupertswood on the ANZAC Day Tuesday.
- No club games on the weekend of May 13th, with the RDFNL set to host the West Gippsland Football Netball League in the WorkSafe Victoria Community Championships.
- A complete break over the Queen’s Birthday weekend, with no matches scheduled across that weekend.
- Round 13 to again be split over two weekends, as was the case in 2016.
- Removal of cross-over between Junior & Senior finals which was trialed in 2016, but found to have adverse impacts across both competitions.
Finals venues have not been announced as part of this fixture release, and will be released as we draw towards finals in 2017.
The RDFNL will again schedule various "Theme Rounds" for the 2017 fixture, which will be announced once the AFL and AFL Goldfields have announced their Theme Round schedules for 2017. The RDFNL will then tie in as closely to the AFL and Regional themes as possible.
The completed fixture is included as an attachment at the bottom of this page.
Good luck to all clubs ahead of season 2017, and also Merry Christmas to everyone throughout the league.
