On Saturday three Tasmanian Aboriginal Footballers will be playing in the curtain raiser to the Dreamtime at the G game between Essendon and Richmond.
Zane Brown and Rulla Kelly-Mansell from the South Launceston Football Club along with Bradley Garth-Smith of the Channel Football Club will take part in the match, which is part of the Footy Means Business program for 2013.
The week long program, sponsored by Rio Tinto, will see young Aboriginal footballers from all over Australia receive expert development in football as well as exposure to quality employment opportunities and training.
AFL Tasmania, Community Programs Manager, Brett Mansell said, "The Footy Means Business program is an absolutely fantastic initiative. Not only does it provide participants with the unique opportunity of playing on the MCG before the Dreamtime game, it also has proven to be a great opportunity for young Aboriginal footballers to gain skills that will hopefully assist them to gain employment in the future.”
The game is a culmination of the program which is conducted in Melbourne and managed by former Aboriginal champions, Chris Johnson and Xavier Clarke.
