The Cutters had been out of sorts so far this season, but snapped into action during their 24.18 (162) to 7.7 (49) triumph that finally gave player –coach Daniel Lock something to smile about.
Missing recruits Patrick Heenan and Austin Wonaeamirri, North’s were not the same side that pushed Cairns City Lions to the limit last weekend.
But Lock was just happy to find some winning form after a torrid fortnight.
“I put the blowtorch on a few guys and they responded well,” he said.
“All week we talked about doing the basics right and now we’ve got that one win we need to make sure we keep ticking the boxes.”
Paul Smith was wayward at times but still managed seven goals to lead South’s charge.
