Round 1 Preview

BITS VS YEPPOON

A replay of last year's preliminary final, Yeppoon will be looking to get off to a positive start this year and try and put the nightmare of a disappointing 2010 behind them after being Premiers in 2009.  BITS will be looking to show that they will once again be challenges for the title and continue their good pre-season form.

Who wins this one will depend on which of the key players get on top of their opponent. Yeppoon will look to rely heavily on last year's nucleus, Wes Hawke, the Watkins brothers and the dash of Matt Wallin and Sam Nicholls from halfback.  While BITS will look to rely on the likes of Adam Dickenson, Paul Caveny, Nathan Shiphard, Daniel Hunt and Daniel Boase.

I expect this one to be close until half-time, after which BITS will kick aware for a comfortable home win.

Prediction: BITS by 37 points

GLENMORE VS PANTHERS

This should be an interesting game, Glenmore will be looking to put last year's wooden spoon behind them and Panthers will not want to repeat the start they had to last year's season were they lost their first 7 games.

If 3 wasn't enough, how about 4 Payne brothers in the one team.  Nick Payne re-joins his younger siblings this year at the Bulls and will be looking to hold down a key defensive position.  It will be interesting to see how Panthers can pull together to cover the departure of key players Joel Ralph, Lyle Clifford, Scott O'Halloran.  I am also sure they would have not forgotten Darcy Payne tearing them apart in the corresponding fixture last year.

Expect that this game won't be a high scoring one and will go down to the final quarter, who can stand up for their team, can Darcy kick a bag again?

Prediction: Glenmore by 15 points

BROTHERS VS GLADSTONE

Unfortunately this fixture has been postponed
