Big V Wrap - Round 7

It was a great weekend for our Youth Men now moving up to second place in their pool. The rest of our Eagles had a tough weekend and will be looking to bounce back this week.

Our VYCW had a tough weekend finishing with 2 losses. On Saturday night they were beaten by a strong performing Hume City Broncos, 85 – 65. Brodie Theodore and Chloe Tidswell had great contributions with 14 points and 11 points respectively. The girls than made the trip to Bendigo. It seemed the travel took a toll on our girls who were defeated by the Bendigo Braves, 67 – 43. Sian Gillam had another great performance with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Our VYCW will be looking to get a win on Mother’s Day with Nunawading Spectres @ DV 1pm.

Our VYCM had a successful weekend with 2 great wins. On Saturday night the boys overcame Hawthorn Magic, 75 – 70, making 8 three’s and solid performances from our big men, Cameron Conlon and Justin Petrie who both finished in double figures for both points and rebounds. For the second game of the weekend our youth men travelled down the ring road to face off against the Altona Gators. The game was extremely close and was decided in the 9 seconds thanks to Dylan Dunstan making the winning shot, 78 – 77. Dylan Dunstan finished with 17 points shooting at 58% from the field with 3 boys also scoring double digit points. The boys will be looking to continue their hot form with their two games this weekend starting on Saturday night @ DV 6pm against  Ringwood Hawks. This is also the opening game for our Mother’s Day event with all mums getting free entry and a glass of champagne. On Sunday the boys will want to get a win travelling to Kilsyth on Mother’s day at 2.30pm.

Our SCW lost an extremely well fought game against the Ringwood Hawks on Saturday night, 75 – 71. Kasey Burton had a great night with 19 points, shooting at 50% from the field. We also had 3 more women scoring in double digits which is a great effort. Our SCW have the week off this week which will give them a chance to rest the bodies and get some valuable time to work on turning their season around.

Our SCM suffered an upset to a desperate Corio Bay on Sunday, 93 – 83. Brandon Conley had a day out with 28 points and 13 rebounds but couldn’t get the boys over the line. Matt Reynolds and Ray Sanders continued putting up good scores with 18 points and 15 points respectively. Our SCM will be part of our Mother’s Day event as the second game of the night, 8pm @ DV against Hawthorn Magic. The men will be looking to come out strong for the home crowd.

While the rest of our Eagles have a tough week ahead of them. Come down to support our Mother’s Day event Saturday night with all mothers getting free entry and glass of champagne.
