Civic League Wrap - Round 5

We are now five weeks into the Ultimate Civic League and we are still tied at the top with two teams not registering a loss as of yet. Redbacks have begun their climb up the ladder defeating an in form Uni Hill, while the last game of the night turned into an absolute ripper of a game.

Round 5 Results

6.10PM Gale Force 48 v Greenhills Beavers 65

With so many avenues to score from, Greenhills are becoming an unstoppable force with another double digit win. It was an extremely close first half with 2 points splitting the two teams, the third quarter was where Greenhills overran Gale Force with a 21 – 9 scoring run. Greenhills’ ball movement and unselfish play is key towards their success making it impossible for the opposition to defend. It was Justin Petrie’s week to step up for the winning team finishing with 20 points, for Gale Force James Piper and Michael Jones lead the team with 14 points each.

7.05PM The Splashers 66 v Wolves 46

The physicality of the Wolves was no match for the scoring power of the Splashers with 4 of the 6 Splashers scoring double digit points for the game. It was a tight contest for the first three quarters with no team leading by double digits at any time, however with 2 of the Wovles bigger players fouled out at the start of the 4th it made it too difficult to keep up with the young Splashers. The same usual suspects came up large for the Splashers this week and they will need to continue this hot form next week against the Greenhills Beavers.

8.00PM Redbacks 61 v Uni Hill 40

Redbacks have continued their winning ways against a heavily undermanned Uni Hill. Redbacks wide spread of scorers made it impossible to guard against for Uni Hill, with all but 1 player scoring at least 6 points for the Redbacks. Uni Hill were severely weakened with several key names not able to participate on the night, leaving it up to the likes of Lincoln Garfirth to carry the scoring load for the team.

8.45PM St. Mary’s Sharks 73 v Dream Team 69

The last game of the night proved again to be a great contest with both teams fighting for a top 4 spot. It was a domination by Dream Team in the first half running away with a 20 point lead at the end of the 2nd quarter. St. Mary’s were not finished however with a colossal comeback to steal the win pouring on 50 points in the second half compared to Dream Team’s 26.
