Sharna Making Us Proud

We are extremely proud of our Junior Eagle Sharna Ayres, to add to her already successful year she has added another accolade with being selected for the prestigious Australian Development Camp held by Basketball Australia.

We were able to sit down with Sharna and ask her about her experiences for the year and what is next for our young star.

1.       1. Tell us a bit about your experiences in 2017

This year I have been grateful enough to make the U18’s Vic Metro State team in which finished third overall for 2017 and also be picked in the Big V State Championship women's team. I played my final season in Under 18s for the Eagles which we managed to compete in finals, while also participating in NITP training.

I got invited to the Australian Development Camp which was a great experience training with and against the best athletes in australia for my age. It taught me a lot about my own game with what I am good at and what I need to improve.

2.       2. How did you manage your injury towards the end of the VJBL season?

Closing in on the end of my vjbl season I had hurt my hamstring, I made sure that I chose wisely on what was most important at the time and what I had coming up. I made sure I kept on top of rehab and my stretching and never missed a checkup appointment.

3.       3. What did you do to achieve these goals?

Every time I had a training or I went out on to the court to put up shots I made sure that I trained at game pace and put effort in to everything I did. I put up extra shots in my own time during holidays trained at school three times a week and went to NITP training in the mornings before school.

4.       4, What are your goals for 2018?

My goals for 2018 are to make the U20s state team and to play at the highest level I can to improve my development.

Well done Sharna, we are looking forward to seeing what 2018 will bring you.
