Perfect 4 in BIG V Round 14

The weekend saw our Youth League teams triumph in every game they played. Our Greensborough Plaza Women overcame Altona and Hume City in two very close games, and our Thornbury Car Care Men defeated Blackburn and Sherbrooke.

Greensborough Plaza Youth League Women’s:

This nail-biting thriller saw the Eagles come out on top with a one-point victory over the Altona Gators (64 - 63). Keeley Evans was influential for the Eagles with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Jade Dunne was Diamond Valley’s top scorer with 11 points.

In their second game of the weekend, Tashia Overby’s 32 points wasn’t enough for the Hume City Broncos to defeat the Eagles at home, the Eagles winning by seven points (69 – 62). Jade Dunne was the leading scorer with 27 points and seven rebounds.

Thornbury Car Care Youth League Men’s:

The Eagles romped the Blackburn Vikings at home (79 – 64), racking up a massive 19 steals and scoring 26 points from turnovers. Matthew Baggio (14 points) was the highest scoring Eagle in a well-rounded performance. Ryan Bowkett, Oliver Dyson, Casey Dewacht, and Ben Barlow, all finished with 10 points and 5 rebounds.

The Eagles scored their second win of the round against the Sherbrooke Suns (76 – 71), to consolidate fourth place in the Terrill conference after pushing ahead in the fourth quarter. With the scores all tied up at the final break, Diamond Valley got going in the fourth, with Ben Barlow hutting the clutch game-sealing triple late in the piece. Ben Barlow scored a game-high 17 points. Matt Baggio finished with 16 points and 7 rebounds.
