GRACE COLLETT RETURNS !

With the ink barely dry on her National Letter of Intent signed to join the famed Gonzaga Bulldogs, Grace Collett has re-committed to being part of our Big V State Championship Women for season 2016.

A Diamond Valley Eagles junior, Grace is unconventional but very effective and extremely creative and mobile for an athlete of her height and length. She can handle the ball in the open floor like a guard, pass off either hand and is a one-woman block party at the rim defensively.

Grace finished her U18 years strongly – performing exceptionally well against marquee talent of the same age and went on to earn a position as a Development Player with the Melbourne Boomers WNBL Program for season 2015/16 –

Having the opportunity to play with and learn from a number of Australian Opals, including fellow post player Elyse Penaluna.

This past season, Grace averaged 7.0 points and 7.1 rebounds per game this past season in sporadic minutes, including a 13 point, 11 rebound, 4 block and 1 steal performance against the Melbourne Tigers.

It’s been a big year for Grace; having been accepted as a Development Player with the Melbourne Boomers WNBL Program and signing with Gonzaga University for 2016. I look forward to seeing Grace transfer her experience and physicality from the Boomers into the Big V league next year, and continue her development as one of the most mobile ‘bigs’ in the competition’, Head Coach Dee Butler said.

DVBA CEO, Ross Wignell adds ‘It is great to see Grace back for 2016. Now that school has finished I expect to see Grace in the gym and on the courts working on particular parts of her game. There is a tremendous upside to Grace - which I really hope we see come game time.’

Stay tuned … we aren’t done yet !
